Chevrolet now enters it's second year of it's new model for the Corvette. The major change (or addition) this year is the reintroduction of the convertible. The convertible's rear glass window was heated and the top had an express down feature that released the tonneau cover and lowered the windows part way with the touch of a button. The LS1 engine with an automatic were standard. A 6 speed was available as an option for $815. Exterior colors available in 1998 were Arctic White, Sebring Silver, Nassau Blue, Black, Light Carmine Red, Torch Red, Magnetic Red, and Fairway Green. Interior colors were Black, Light Oak Light Grey, Red, Yellow. Convertible tops were available in Black, Light oak, or white. Again in 1998 the Chevrolet Corvette was chosen as the pace car for the Indy500 and to commemorate that a special version was offered. The color was basically purple and yellow - definitely a love it or hate it appearance. 1,163 Chevrolet Corvettes had this option and the cost of the option was 5,039 with the automatic and 5,804 with the optional 6 speed.
Mark has a light carmine red coupe and has also done some extensive engine work to his LS1.
